A CAR has collided with a telegraph pole on the A31 near Stag Gate this morning.
The incident happened at 6.01am and the road was closed in both directions for around five hours.
It has now reopened.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said they had been called by ambulance.
Eight officers were originally sent to the scene.
The road is closed from the Roundhouse roundabout and also from Stag Gate.
It is not known how long the road will be closed as there is difficulty getting a team to the scene to replace the telegraph pole, the police spokesperson said.
The road cannot reopen until the pole is removed and expected to remain closed for most of the morning.
The telegraph pole was originally leaning into the road. A BT Open Space engineer is at the scene awaiting further assistance.
The person driving the silver Mini Cooper was taken to hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time but the injuries do not appear serious said Dorset Police.
