POLICE visited the travellers’ camp at Branksome Recreation Ground at the weekend after a complaint from a member of the public.
Officers were called at 10.45am yesterday after a woman walking through the recreation ground reported one of the group’s dogs had lunged at her, said a spokesman for Dorset Police.
Police were sent to diffuse the situation and the matter was referred to the dog warden.
One of the caravans was spotted leaving the ground yesterday.
Residents had formed a human barricade to stop travellers leaving the rec on Friday afternoon.
Around 15 furious locals stood in front of the fence, allegedly damaged by the group as they moved onto the rec at lunchtime, to prevent a car from leaving again. It is believed the travellers are part of the same group evicted from Riggs Garden, Turbary Common, Bournemouth last Thursday.
