THE figures for Saturday alone were astonishing. More than 440,000 visitors enjoyed the council-led Air Festival and made it the busiest ever day for the resort. The town’s infrastructure stood up well to the test, aided by good organisation. The four day event has been a massive boost and as tourism director, Mark Smith, points out, the festival in its sixth year is getting more popular, not less. New development is springing up in Bournemouth. We’ve had the Skyride. The Imax is gone and the Wheels festival is also here for next year. Bournemouth feels like a resort that’s going places.
