EAST Dorset residents are being encouraged to have their say on proposals to move Hayes Post Office.
The office is currently situated at 11 Wimborne Road West – but could be relocated to the Spar shop at 103 on the same road.
Under the proposals, it would see its opening times extended by 61.5 hours a week, and doors would be open across the weekend.
Post Office regional network manager for the south, Will Russell, said the changes would see the post office moved around 800 metres away.
“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the post office network to new-style branches,” he said.
“This investment, the largest in the history of the post office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The opening hours at the proposed new location would be Monday to Saturday: 6.30am until 10pm, and Sunday: 7am until 10pm. Public consultation will close on January 27.
