I’m the newly elected Deputy Member of Youth Parliament (DMYP), and after being elected Francesca and I have had an incredibly busy and active month!
After presenting to the children’s overview and scrutiny board, outlining our priorities and plan for the year ahead, we went to Minehead for the annual regional residential.
This was a great opportunity to meet the other MYP’s and DMYP’s from all over the south-west and discuss issues – coming up with action plans, the regional manifesto and preparing ourselves in the best possible way.
Regarding local activities, a survey has been created and is being distributed all over Poole, with the help of members from the Children and Young Peoples Board – to ensure as many young people as possible are able to get their voices heard.
The aim of this survey is to formulate our third priority – ‘Your Choice’ – where the issue which is most commonly identified by young people across Poole then becomes the focus for more work. It’s been a great month, and hopefully many more great months to come!
