JUSTICE has been done for more victims of historic sex abuse, this time the victims of grandfather Barry Furlong, a senior figure at the Jehovah’s Witness community in Kinson.
He has now been sentenced to five years. As with so many of these cases, the abused did not come forward at the time because they did not think they would be believed.
Yesterday’s result should give hope and encouragement to others. Meanwhile the elders at the JW congregation who claimed to have investigated these allegations before, have been uncharacteristically silent. They have some explaining to do.
