THE Canford Bottom roundabout is not the most popular or easily navigable bit of highway engineering in Dorset.
But for a change, you can’t blame local road planners. The ‘hamburger’ junction was designed and built when the government, through the Olympic Delivery Authority, threw money at the 2012 Games and wanted to shave a few minutes off the journey time from London to Weymouth. 2012 is long gone but this particular legacy endures.
There haven’t been that many accidents at the junction. But that’s almost certainly more about good driving than sensible design.
