Dennis Locorrierre, Pavilion, Bournemouth
HE was the voice of Dr Hook and a night in his company is more than medicinal - it's sensational.
Returning to the Pavilion after numerous solo visits in the last five years, Dennis Locorriere came armed with a strong five-piece band, a mighty back catalogue of hits and boundless energy and enthusiasm for his task.
His distinctive, often sexy and seductive plaintive voice was the very essence of what made Dr Hook such a resounding success.
So from the moment he launched into Sharing the Night Together in his irresistible vocal style we were well and truly hooked.
With so many spine-tingling songs packed into two relentlessly entertaining hours, it is almost impossible to highlight the best, but Sylvia's Mother, A Little Bit More, If Not You, More Like the Movies and When You're In Love with a beautiful Woman were among the unforgettable crowd-pleasers.
But Dennis was not only the consummate romantic , he was funny too and he peppered the show with many witty tracks and amusing repartee.
Two encores and a standing ovation later no one, including Dennis, wanted it to end!
