Solid Silver Sixties, Pavilion, Bournemouth
Oh Yes, they're the great survivors. These once regular chart toppers might still be performing familiar old favourites but you certainly can't fault them on a superbly right up to date delivery - and the packed Pavilion loved it.
The Dakotas set the tempo with a selection which included their own Birds In The Sky, the Zombies' She's Not There, and a fine version of Cilla Black's You're my World.
Wayne Fontana's Mancunian wit made his ageing problem seem hilarious, though luckily he could still remember his hits, Pamela, and The Game of Love.
And John Walker bought back that unmistakable powerful quality with numbers such as The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine and No Regrets.
The Merseybeats Live And Let Die, written by fellow Liverpudlian Sir Paul, was a pyrotechnical knockout and they got everyone up for the irresistibly feel-good Sorrow. Lastly, The Searchers have admirably retained their classy clear vocals. When You Walk In The Room was followed by an all standing encore for Twist And Shout and an all-company Rocking All Over The World - it can't come much better.
