THE stars came out to play in Bournemouth when Radio One DJ Chris Moyles and crew brought their Rednose Rallyoke to town to raise money for Comic Relief.
Guests McFly joined in the fun at the Old Fire Station on Friday for the opening night of a nationwide tour, which will also take in Swansea, Liverpool, Belfast, Glasgow, Loughborough and London.
Two years ago, Chris and the gang toured with a Red Nose Rally, raising more than £620,000 for the charity. This year, they have combined the rally with karaoke to produce Rallyoke.
Before the show got underway on Friday evening, Chris said he was looking forward to the tour. "We thought: Bournemouth sounds like a nice place to start. It's at the bottom by the sea'.
"We went out on the beach today and everyone was coming up to us and giving us money. We were charging for photos."
He hinted that he was also anticipating a night on the town after the gig. "Tonight and tomorrow night are the nights we'll be going a bit mental, which is easy to do here from what people have told me," he said.
Chris dismissed rumours that he has been approached to become a judge on ITV's X-Factor following the axing of Louis Walsh. "Apparently Simon Cowell is wooing me. If that means not ringing me, then he's wooing me," he said.
The popular DJ said he was hoping to raise at least £400,000 for Comic Relief during the week. "Then we'll have raised a million. We've had a good reaction so far."
Chris was joined by Bournemouth University graduate Rachel Jones, who produces the Chris Moyles Show.
Pop sensations McFly did some karaoke by singing The Time of My Life, from Dirty Dancing, before drummer Harry did a solo with Hero by Julio Iglesias and Danny sent the crowd wild with his rendition of Mustang Sally.
The Bournemouth venue was packed out with Radio One listeners, who had been texting in for more than a week in the hope of winning tickets to one of the seven shows in the lead-up to this Friday's Red Nose Day.
Among them was Carly Miller who had travelled down from Bracknell. "I always listen to Chris' radio show in the morning," she said.
Tanya Barker from Waterlooville in Hampshire, said: "The attraction is Chris Moyles, but I do like McFly too. They're nice to look at."
