THE owners of a new nightclub to be opened in Bournemouth in May say they will be filling a "huge gap" in the market.
Hush Club will take over the site of the now-defunct K-Bar on Terrace Road, with an opening night pencilled in for May 18.
Owner City Centre Leisure Group, which also owns Landmarc restaurant and theatre, insists the new venue will focus on quality entertainment rather than cheap drink promotions.
"We feel there is a huge gap in the market for offering the best in entertainment," said City Centre's Josh Simons.
"Bournemouth has a lot of late-night bars but only one or two notable nightclubs.
"It will be a unique concept for Bournemouth and bring a bit of quality to the town's nightlife."
The new club will be spread over three floors and have a capacity of 1,000. The Hush website promises "a new vision in nightlife" where "hedonistic meets cutting edge" and "exotic meets sophisticated".
Already lined up are club nights with renowned national promoters Carwash and Ministry of Sound.
Some of the world's most famous DJs, including Erick Morillo and Fedde le Grand, are also set to play Hush over the summer.
"What is important is we are not going to be discounting drinks and be in a drinks price war like the rest of Bournemouth," said Mr Simons.
"We will be putting on shows and the best a nightclub has to offer," he added.
City Centre sold Jimmy's Bar and Restaurant to Richard Carr's Future 3000 last month, and also opened Café Shore in Sandbanks in 2000.
