Halfway To Paradise: The Billy Fury Story, Bournemouth Pavilion
From bringing the house down to an alarmed management bringing the curtain down - Billy Fury's early raunchy rock shows were obviously not to be missed.
Now in its tenth year, this tribute to the much admired pop idol comes from members of his band, The Tornadoes, during the '70s, and vocalist Colin Gold from the teenage Rock to the Big Ballads, and looking pretty close to the original star with his lacquered quiff, collar-up wind jacket, and adept, at least in short spurts, with those once literally show-stopping body movements.
The Story with film and voice-over progressed from Billy's Liverpool childhood, through the city's '50s club scene to his subsequent success and the health problems which led to his death aged 42 in 1983. Adding to the memories were fascinating clips from period BBC music shows like the rattling "over the points" 6 5 Special.
The highlights included the bluesy Wondrous Place, the powerful Jealousy, his two most popular ballards Like I've Never Been Gone and, of course, Half Way To Paradise, and his last hit, Forget Him. The fans, though, certainly haven't forgotten Billy.
