WHICH ever way you slice it, Biggie's massive body of work remains one of the most significant in rap history. Ten years after he was shot and killed, a casualty of the bloody east coast-west coast war, label boss and close friend Sean Diddy' Combs rounds up the boy's biggest hits and throws us a couple of unreleased tunes to boot.
Of those, Runnin Ya Mouth is prime Biggie - loud and proud with plenty to say. The other, Want That Old Thing Back, doesn't really stand comparison with the best of the rest, but is still streets ahead of the larger part of contemporary gangsta rap. Still, it's the classic cuts that speak loudest. Chart topper Hypnotize rocks like Gibraltar, Ten Crack Commandments is a bleak appraisal of street life, Nasty Girl is the pop killer and Juicy never fails to fill floors.
