The Comedy Store, Landmarc, Bournemouth
THE good, the bad and the ugly; this pretty much describes this Comedy Store.
The venue was packed, the vibe was buzzing and the alcohol was flowing. Canadian comedian Sean Collins kicked off the evening with a fabulous performance. His ability to bring situations to life with a dry wit had the audience in stitches. Next up was award-winning New Zealand comedian Ben Hurley. His relaxed style, where he attempts to remain clean but inevitably rubs the boundaries of filth, was a complete hit. Amazingly, Ben tackled such issues as Steve Irwin's death and the July 7 bombings and got away with it.
After these two amazing acts, we had high hopes for headlining act Josh Howie. Unfortunately, he failed on many accounts.
It didn't help that a group felt the need to chat throughout his performance, which resulted in Josh getting angry, and not in a comical way. After spending at least five minutes of his routine explaining why he gets so annoyed, the audience had lost the plot, and Josh failed to grab back the attention.
Nevertheless, both Ben and Sean made up for this. I will definitely be returning for some more comedy in the future.
