RINGWOOD Town Council will soon have a Facebook page to inform members of the public.
At a meeting of the town council recently, members decided to overturn a recommendation from their policy and finance committee not to create the account.
The committee had also decided against setting up a Twitter account, a decision upheld by the full council.
Considering the recommendation from the committee, members were in agreement the council should have a presence on social media.
The meeting did hear some concerns over 'damaging' social media comments.
But the council's town clerk said it was possible to have an informative Facebook page to provide factual information only, without an opportunity to comment.
A social media policy was also adopted during the meeting.
