AFTER a sunny Saturday it was a soggy Sunday to begin with, but improving weather brought out the crowds on the final day of Bournemouth Wheels Festival.
Numbers built as the day went on, with hardy souls the first out as drizzle and dark clouds came and went in the morning, but by the afternoon the site was packed once more with punters looking for a final fix of adrenaline.

On the East Overcliff demonstration straight the supercar parade got things going, with a Ferrari F40 and rare Jaguar XJ200 among the exotica on display.
Onlookers were then treated to a range of motorsport icons from across the years, from touring cars such as the Ford Anglia and BMW 3 Series, to rally cars, Le Mans legends and, of course, the unmistakeable roar of Formula One machinery.
Among the cars from motorsport’s top table were Michael Schumacher’s 1992 Benetton, a Jordan from 2002 and a Lotus Camel once driven by multiple-world champion Nelson Piquet, with the unique sight of seeing these priceless historic F1 cars zip along the usually public road not lost on the crowd.
Dodge Viper owner, Mark Kidman said: "The camaraderie in the Paddock was unparalleled – it was all very friendly. The course is great and there has been a fantastic amount of people which is brilliant."
After driving the length of East Overcliff on just two wheels on Saturday, Paul Swift said: “I’ve achieved one of the highlights of my career this year. It wasn’t a one-off trick but the course was so narrow and I managed to balance for the whole distance. The reaction from the crowd was fantastic."
There were classic motorbikes too, alongside karts from local clubs, some piloted by youngsters as young as six.
Down on the beach the monster trucks were once again crushing cars and giving rides to the public, while Matt Coulter – the Kangaroo Kid – put on his fun quad bike stunt show.
On the beach next to the pier, minor delays while things dried up caused little dampening of spirits, as the FMX motorbike riders pulled twists and back flips to gasps from the crowd as the sun started to make an appearance.
FMX rider Jamie Squibb said: "It was one of the best shows of the weekend although we loved them all – we’re buzzing and have had an awesome time."
At Pier Approach, Team Extreme showed that you don’t need internal combustion to be crowd-pleasers, showing off their tricks on roller blades, BMX bikes and skateboards.
Councillor Lawrence Williams, portfolio holder for Tourism, said: “In spite of some overcast periods and even a torrential downpour, I’ve seen hundreds of families enjoying the enormous variety of action on offer. I would like to thank all of our sponsors, in particular Jeep, Fiat, Abarth and the Coastal BID for supporting the festival, also everybody involved in planning and delivering this event for the enjoyment of thousands of festival goers.”
And with supercars and classics on show at the BIC and Pavilion, along with funfair rides and sideshows, the final day of the 2015 Bournemouth Wheels Festival was sure to see plenty of people go home happy.
