Two kayakers had to abandon their kayaks when they got too close to the Sandbanks chain ferry on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said they were alerted at 1.44pm to the incident.
The pair were brought to shore by the harbour launch service, the spokesperson said.
