THE director of the Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) has been dismissed.
Steve Burdis was suspended in 2015 after the organisation reported a £2.8m overspend.
He has now lost an appeal to save his job.
Mr Burdis, who previously served as head of waste management for Dorset County Council, became director of the DWP when it was established in early 2011.
He is also former chair of the National Association of Waste Disposal Officers, and was a key architect in designing the Shropshire Waste Partnership prior to his work with DWP.
A spokesperson from the organisation said: "We can confirm that an appeal panel was convened on March 8 to hear an appeal against the dismissal of Dorset Waste Partnership’s director, Steve Burdis.
"Mr Burdis's appeal was dismissed by the panel. The council’s disciplinary and appeal procedures have now been concluded.
"Interim arrangements around the DWP's senior management team will remain in place until a successor has been appointed."
