POLICE are searching for a group of men after an attempted robbery last month.

Officers are calling for witnesses to come forward after the incident, which happened at around 2.45am on Sunday, August 7 in Old Christchurch Road.

The victim, a 48-year-old man from Surrey, was approached by a group of men outside Vodka Revolutions before being followed to Walkabout.

The group then tried to steal "valuable items" from his back pocket, police say.

The victim suffered minor injuries, including bruising to his right eye and body.

CCTV of a possible witness to the offence has now been released by officers.

Detective Constable Laura McQueen, of Bournemouth police, said the man in the CCTV was in "the immediate vicinity at the time of the incident" and may have useful information.

“I would like to make it clear that I am appealing for this man for information and have no reason to believe he was involved," she added.

“I would urge him or anyone who is able to identify him to contact me as I believe they can assist with my investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55160119450.
