A BY-ELECTION is under way in Bournemouth today.
The vote will decide the new ward councillor for Kinson North following the resignation of Conservative David Turtle, who is moving abroad.
The candidates are Duane Farr for Ukip, Carla Gregory-May for the Green Party, Dennis Gritt for Labour, John Perkins for the Conservatives and Stephen Plant for the Liberal Democrats.
Polling stations, open until 10pm today, are located at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Holloway Avenue, Kinson Community Centre in Millhams Road, Kinson Methodist Church Hall in Wimborne Road and a temporary station on the corner of Kinson Road and Glenmeadows Drive.
Cllr Turtle was elected in May 2015.
About his decision to quit, he said: "It’s been a privilege serving Bournemouth council and the residents of Kinson North but I’ve taken the personal decision to live abroad.
"I’m confident however that I leave Kinson North in the good hands of my fellow ward Councillors Angiolini and Battistini, and I’m sure they and my eventual replacement will continue to serve the people of Kinson North to the best of their ability."
