A TEEN is set to follow in the footsteps of Adele and Jessie J by attending the theatre school where they trained.

Jordan Pegg, 16, is in London this week starting the Post 16 Musical Theatre course run by the Brit School in London, which also boats Ella Eyre, the late Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and The Kooks as alumni.

The former LeAF Studio pupil will be looking forward to following her dreams by enrolling on the course where she will enhance her acting, dancing and singing skills. She is one of seven young people accepted onto the course who do not live within the catchment area in London.

Asked how she felt, she said: “It was crazy. My mum and I were crying. I have heard that Adele, Jessie J and some big names have gone there in the past.

“We went to have a look there before I applied and I just really liked the atmosphere.

“When I was little, I always wanted to be a singer and it has progressed from there into musical theatre.”

“You had to fill in an application form in November last year and then wait to see if you were invited for a first audition, where we had to do an hour each of singing, dancing and acting as a group. I was pretty pleased to have got through to that.

“Then for the second audition we had to do one monologue and a song which were provided to us, as well as a dance we had to choreograph ourselves.”

Asked how she felt when she was told that she would be accepted onto the course, she said: “

Her proud mum, Denise, said that she first realised that her daughter could sing at around the age of 10 when she watched Jordan perform in a school show.

She said: “I know everybody thinks that their child could sing, but it was in this school show that I realised that she really could.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic for her and the fact that she is one of just seven on the course who do not live in the catchment area. It is an amazing opportunity and they are so supportive and look after the pupils who aren’t from London.

“It’s just lovely that she has remained so focused on what she wants to do and while it can be difficult for young people to make a decision on what they want to do in the future, Jordan has never wavered.”
