A CHARITY fund raising event celebrated prized pooches in all their glory.

The inaugural fun dog show and family day at Colehill gave residents a glimpse into the wonderful world of Crufts.

Wimborne Rotarians organised the afternoon at Deans Grove Farm at Long Lane with families flocking with their pets in tow for the 'light-hearted' animal show.

Some dogs pranced around a makeshift arena while others sat back and enjoyed the day - despite the windy weather.

Those that took part competed to take home much-deserved prizes.

Categories included the waggiest tail, most like its owner and the best rescue dog.

Proceeds went to the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation which aims to provide financial assistance to cancer sufferers and their families in Dorset.

"It is all quite light-hearted and really it's for pets and children," Rotarian John Gully said. "Any surplus will go to the rotary's selected charity - in this case it's the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.

"It is the first time we have actually done it so it's a new experience for us."
