IT’S 20 years since he topped the charts with smash hit Mysterious Girl.

But Peter Andre proved he is still as popular as ever when he attracted around 400 adoring fans to a book signing in Bournemouth.

The excited crowd screamed hysterically as the singer and reality TV star took his seat to sign copies of Between Us at Tesco in Riverside Avenue.

It was the first stop on a nationwide book tour and superfan Lucy Reeve was determined to be at the front of the queue.

The 43-year-old travelled all the way from Norfolk on Monday to ensure she was first in line at 4am, six hours before her idol was due to arrive at the store.

On Wednesday, she is on her way to Ipswich so she can queue all over again when he signs copies of his book there on Friday.

She told the Daily Echo: “My mum and I were big fans and when I lost her last August I was in a bad place. This year I decided to go to Peter’s concert in Bournemouth in March and to his perfume signing in Southampton. He’s given me a reason to smile again.”

Nadine Bredda, daughter Kyla Rogers and grand-daughter Daisy Rogers, one, were second in line and Sue Bussell from Christchurch was third having arrived at the store at 7.30am.

“I love him to bits - I’ve loved him for years” said Sue.

“I am so excited because this is the first time I’ve met him even though I’ve been to his concerts many times.”

Peter first hit the headlines as a singer in the 1990s and still tours performing old and new songs.

But he is probably best known as a reality TV star after his stint on I’m A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here led to his rocky marriage to Katie Price.

The couple and their children featured in many TV shows as well as the gossip pages of many magazines.

Peter stayed at the Bournemouth store for an hour before heading off to Portsmouth for the next signing.

He also plans to travel to Cardiff, Bristol, Ipswich and Romford this week to promote his latest book.

After the event, he told the Echo: “Bournemouth was amazing. What a way to kick off the book tour. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to say hi and I hope everyone enjoys the book.”
