DETECTIVES are hunting a knife-wielding man who robbed a Bournemouth convenience store last night.

CCTV has now been released of the suspect, who walked in to Costcutter in Ripon Road, Winton, at around 9.20pm brandishing a kitchen knife.

The offender approached a female member of staff, placed a blue plastic bag on the counter and demanded money.

However, the victim quickly backed away from the suspect and pressed the buzzer to alert a colleague.

The robber left the store with the bag and the knife. No money was handed over.

The offender is described as white and aged in his 20s.

He was wearing a black and white woollen scarf over his face, a navy blue and grey hooded top with the Nike logo on it, dark trousers and black shoes.

Detective Constable Scott Brimicombe, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the woman who was working in the store.

“We have a CCTV image of the suspect.  "While his face in concealed, I believe that someone out there may be able to identify him from the clothing he is wearing.

“I would urge anyone who recognises this man or knows who was responsible to please contact Dorset Police.

“Finally, if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious in the area of Ripon Road at the relevant time, I would ask them to please get in touch.”
