TWO dogs died after being trapped in a burning car in the New Forest.
Crews from Redbridge and Totton fire stations were called to the incident at 8.30am on Monday where a couple’s car was on fire at Blackwater, Lyndhurst.
The woman, it is understood, is a professional dog walker. Firefighters were able to save two dogs from the fire, but another two sadly died.
The incident took place on a residential driveway and two caravans were also damaged by the blaze. The car was attached to one of the caravans.
Two fire engines attended from Totton and Redbridge.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was not known what caused the fire. They added: “Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose jet to put out the fire, but the car was completely destroyed.
“The two dogs rescued were taken to vets. The woman was uninjured but very distressed.”
