A hustings in Christchurch has been cancelled following the Manchester terror attack.
The event in Christchurch was due to take place tonight at Twynham School.
But in a statement issued this morning, organiser Reverend Chris Brockway said: "Due to the tragic events which happened in Manchester on Monday, local and national election events are being cancelled as a mark of respect.
"As such, the Christchurch Churches Hustings will not be happening this evening."
He confirmed to the Daily Echo that the event has been cancelled – not postponed – as there would be insufficient time to rearrange another date this close to the General Election.
“The tragedy of this is it is the only Christchurch platform where candidates can speak out,” he added, apologising for the cancellation.
