Finding a weekend break to keep three generations of a family happy is pretty difficult. Especially when they are all staying under one roof… And when it’s your in-laws you are trying to keep happy there is no margin for error.

But I came up trumps at the recently updated Hoburne Cotswold park.

Surrounded by picture postcard Cotswold villages and lakes, the park has two pools, a restaurant (Brasserie 1912) and a sports bar and entertainment venue, plus a range of modern caravans and lodges to rent and buy.

We were pleased to find out we had been booked into one of the new, top of the range Premier caravans.

Despite being four adults and two children this meant we had plenty of room and were very comfortable, thanks to the high standard of decoration, comfy sofas and beds.

The caravan also had a fitted kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and all mod cons, including a fridge freezer, dishwasher and flat screen televisions.

While large patio doors opened out onto a large sun deck, which had a range of rattan garden furniture including a large table and a parasol.

The weather was glorious during our stay and we headed for the heated outdoor pool, which adjoins the smart ‘Café h’, offering snacks, coffee, ice creams and a fab breakfast which we all enjoyed.

The heated indoor pool also has a slide which proved very popular with the children, while we adults enjoyed a little, crafty relaxation in the sauna, steam room and fitness suite.

There are four lakes on the park, which add to its relaxed, ‘countryside’ feel.

The largest has pedalos for hire and you can also fish from it.

One evening we followed the nature trail and saw some of the many beautiful birds and other wildlife living there.

On other evenings we enjoyed some of the entertainment with the Hoburne mascot Sammy Seahorse and his friends and barbecued outside our caravan.

The children also enjoyed playing at the basketball court and football pitch and visiting the adventure parks with their grandparents.

We spent a long weekend at Hoburne, but there is plenty to keep a family occupied for longer, both on and off the park.

The surrounded area is peppered with man-made lakes due to the area being previously quarried for gravel.

This makes it a mecca for watersports enthusiasts and there are plenty of places nearby to try paddle boarding, sailing and wake boarding.

A little further afield is Blenheim Palace and its gardens and Cheltenham, if you fancy some retail therapy or a spot of racing.

When it was time to go home, everyone agreed they had had a great time and would love to come back.

Mission accomplished.
