LIBRARY staff in Bournemouth have now transferred employment to Borough of Poole.
The merger of library services was approved earlier this year in a bid to save a projected £566,000 by 2019/20 through restructuring, without reducing the public library service required by statute.
Council officers have been holding meetings with library staff and trade union representatives through the summer, and earlier this month Bournemouth Libraries staff were formally transferred into the Culture and Community unit at Poole, with a new joint management team in place.
Under the merger the ownership of assets, books and library buildings remains unchanged.
A report to Bournemouth's community overview and scrutiny committee this week states: "The day-to-day library service provision continues across the 22 libraries and home library service during this period of change.
"Regular activities, such as the summer reading challenge for children, have continued to be delivered through the local libraries."
