REVISED plans to add an additional floor to Bournemouth's Hilton Hotel have been submitted to Bournemouth council.
If approved the new events space and private hire bar will provide stunning views across the town and a new facility for this already popular hotel.
The plans, due to be considered by the planning department within weeks, also include the provision of an outdoor terrace at pavement level serving the Schpoons and Forx restaurant, home to Matt Tebbutt, the presenter of BBC’s ever-popular Saturday Kitchen programme.
The restaurant, which is opposite the BH2 cinema and restaurant development in the town centre, is currently accessed only through the hotel lobby.
If the proposals are approved, it will enjoy its own stand-alone entrance.
The application has been submitted by THAT Group, which owns the hotel.
CEO Peter Tisdale told the Daily Echo: "The extension to the tower of the Hilton is set back from the current line of the building. It will be operated as part of the hotel and it will enjoy magnificent seaward views.
"We are confident it will provide another offer as part of the hotel, in addition to the current conferencing and events spaces."
Mr Tisdale added: "We have identified it as an opportunity and we are excited to see how it goes."
He said Schpoons and Forx is already popular with hotel guests and non-residents but said a separate entrance would be designed specifically to allow more easy access for those who are not staying at the hotel.
The Hilton opened in December 2015 and has a stylish Sky Bar on the eight floor, called LEVEL 8IGHT.
