A CHARITY from Bournemouth is asking for the public’s help in their bid to buy a new minibus.
Bournemouth Sea Cadets has entered the 2017 Aviva Community Fund competition which gives community groups and good causes the chance to secure funding.
The charity is hoping to secure between £5,001 and £10,000 but need members of the public to vote for them. The projects that get the most votes, will reach the finals where a panel of judges will decide which projects will receive funding.
Bournemouth Sea Cadets is one of 400 Sea Cadet units nationwide. They offer training to young people between the ages of 10 to 18 as well as enabling personal development and valuable life skills.
At any time, there are between 50 to 75 cadets supported by 10 adult instructors.
A spokesperson said: “As we do not own a minibus anymore, but we must continue to provide training opportunities for the cadets training, we have had to hire minibuses which prohibits our saving for a new one.
“Our own minibus would mean we can relieve some pressure off the cadets about fundraising, and it would relieve pressure off staff with finding a hire.”
