A ROAD in Bournemouth town centre has been closed due to a sinkhole opening up.
Part of Fir Vale Road, off Horseshoe Common is closed after a 'significant' water leak led to Bournemouth Water undertaking emergency repairs.
It could be closed until Friday, as Bournemouth Borough Council has also taken the opportunity to carry out routine maintenance on the road at the same time, a spokesperson confirmed.
Yellow Buses tweeted: "Horseshoe Common will be closed until Friday to repair a sinkhole.
"All outbound services will be diverting down Glen Fern Road until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."
A spokesperson for Bournemouth Water said: "We were alerted by Bournemouth Council to a depression in the road and Fir Vale Road is closed while we investigate. We hope to complete any necessary repair work today."
