TWO Dorset attractions have been named winners in VisitEngland’s annual Awards of Excellence.
Moors Valley Country Park and Forest in Ashley Heath took bronze in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category.
While American-style ranch Loose Reins in Shillingstone near Blandford received a bronze New Tourism Business Award.
Last month the ranch, which boasts 10 American quarter horses, 13.3 acres of land, three cedar cabins, paddocks and a barn with 11 stables, went on the market for £1.25m.
The awards, which are now in their 29th year, celebrate the best of England’s tourism industry.
According to latest figures released by VisitEngland, Brits took more than 47 million holidays in England in 2017, which is up six percent on the previous year.
Brits holidaying at home spent more than £11bn in 2017, which is also up six per cent on 2016.
Tourism in England contributes £106 billion to the economy.
Sally Balcombe, VisitEngland Chief Executive, said: “These awards shine a spotlight on our fantastic tourism industry with the winners showcasing the quality, innovation and excellence on offer throughout the country.
“From an outstanding boutique hotel in the Dales to a tour of York’s chocolate-making history, from pine holiday lodges on the sandy beaches of Cornwall to a quintessentially English country-pub in Hertfordshire, these winners provide outstanding and truly memorable visitor experiences.”
