THIS is the moment a car collided with a bollard in Poole before the driver fled the scene of the crash.
The incident happened in Ashley Road in Parkstone in the early hours of Sunday morning and was recorded on a resident’s CCTV.
In the footage, a car can be seen colliding with bollard and metal railing next to the charging unit before coming to a stop.
The driver is then seen getting out of the vehicle before running down the road towards Branksome.
It comes after CCTV captured a crash on the same stretch of road on Saturday, May 26.
The white Mercedes-Benz A-Class was left damaged after it crashed into a brick wall before completing a full 360-degree spin.
The latest crash is believed to be the fourth incident to happen at that particular location within the past couple of years.
Now residents and traders are calling for something to be done about the unit to stop the number of crashes.
Jeff Williams of Jubilee Road Residents Association said: “These are happening as drivers at night cannot see the unit and railings until the last moment.
“It really is shocking - we have tried repeatedly taking this up with council transport.”
Scott Colebert, manager of Ashley’s, which has been in Ashley Road for 32 years, said: “Just after Christmas last year, a driver swerved and ended up in the air almost sideways and hit a car coming the opposite way.”
He said he has pleaded with the council to remove the charging point and replace it instead with a loading bay which could be used by local businesses.
Mr Colebert said: “It’s just in the way, it’s just wrong and it’s dangerous.”
Dorset Police said they were called to reports of a single vehicle crash at 12.14am on Sunday.
A spokesperson said: “A 30-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
