TWO incidents of 'clandestine' detections in Poole were among 178 reported across the country.
As reported by the Daily Echo, Border Force officers at the Port of Poole found 21 migrants hiding in lorries transporting onions.
The discoveries came to light after annual food hygienes and standards figures were released by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
An FSA spokesperson said: "In total there were a total of 2,325 incident reports over the period April 2017 to March 2018, of which were 178 'clandestine detection' reports averaging at 15 reports per month.
"The presence of people hiding in lorries carrying food could contaminate the contents. However the FSA, working with other enforcement partners, has established reporting and inspection procedures to ensure that compromised food loads are identified, traced and inspected by local authorities and food businesses.
"This is to ensure that unsafe food is not placed on the market."
