ENGINEERS will be replacing a faulty electronic sensor on the Twin Sails Bridge tomorrow.
After briefly re-opening before Christmas, the troubled crossing had to close again on Boxing Day after the fault developed on the Poole side.
A Poole council spokesperson said: "This means the bridge will remain closed to all road traffic, including pedestrians, on Wednesday as people start to return to work.
"Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys. Poole Bridge will be operating as normal.
"We apologise for the inconvenience." The issue is in addition to the ongoing problem on the Hamworthy side, which engineers have been investigating for weeks.
The council says specialists are due to visit at the end of January.
The main issue has revolved around finding a way to extract a half-tonne pin from the assembly, but officials hope a method has been found.
Once the pin is removed, engineers will be able to identify the fault and develop a programme to carry out the appropriate repairs, the council says.
