HUNDREDS of fire doors fitted in council properties across Poole are of the same type as those which failed tests in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.
A freedom of information request has revealed that more than 800 doors are from the same suppliers as those which only lasted for half the time they should have done in tests.
Following the failed tests, Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) said it was "reviewing" its approach to door replacement.
In July, the government forced five companies – Manse Masterdor, Masterdor Limited, Permadoor, Solar Windows Limited and Bowater by Birtley – to withdraw their products from the market in July after they failed tests.
Manse Masterdor doors, more than 200 of which are in place at PHP properties, only withstood fire for 15 minutes – half the time they were supposed to and as is required by building regulations.
A freedom of information request to PHP, the arms-length company responsible for managing Poole council’s housing stock, revealed that 217 of the doors, as well as 658 Masterdor Limited doors, have been installed across its premises.
Six of the doors have been installed in Bournemouth council properties – all of which have now been removed.
Nationally, more than 25,000 fire doors are fitted in council residential properties, it has been reported.
A PHP spokesman said that, following the failed tests, it has been working with the government and the door suppliers to organise the replacement of all affected doors.
They said: “Poole Housing Partnership has been closely involved with the discussions with MHCLG (the ministry of housing, communities and local government) and is reviewing its overall approach to door replacement in light of the emerging information.
“Delivery of effective fire prevention and fire management approaches remains a key priority for the organisation and all fire risk assessments have been revisited assuming 15 minute burn times for doors to understand the impact on advice to residents and fire management approaches.
“It is expected that all doors that fall below the 30-minute standard will be replaced and PHP are working with MHCLG and suppliers to identify the most appropriate way to deliver this.
“In the interim, effective risk management processes, that reflect how fire doors contribute to the overall package of measures to deliver fire safety, are in place.”
Last year Poole Housing Partnership agreed to install sprinklers in all of its tower blocks in the wake of the previous year’s fire at Grenfell Tower.
