MENTAL health charity Dorset Mind hosted a charity coffee morning at Rick Stein's restaurant in Sandbanks last week.
More than 80 people attended the free event with included coffee, cakes and a raffle, and heard from a number of speakers including one of the charity's young ambassadors Calvin Glen.
Calvin who was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome as a child, told how he had managed to turn his life around from a suicidal teenager to a successful drama student with help from Dorset Mind.
Dee Swinton for Dorset Mind said: "It was a really big deal for us. Over 80 people attended and we raised an incredible £620 that will go directly to benefit the local people of Dorset. Special thanks especially to our powerful speakers, Dr Andy Mayers, Calvin Glen and Andy Howe. They did a brilliant job for us."
She added: "Looking to the future, we're planning to do a similar event every quarter with different speakers talking about compelling mental health issues, a raffle with lovely mindfulness prizes, and as a new addition, we're hoping to encourage local business leaders to attend and make the most of a great networking opportunity, as well as local people who passionately support our cause. If any local businesses would like to collaborate with us and join our movement, please get in touch."
