The Hoosiers, Old Firestation, Bournemouth
IMAGINE a band that is a musical version of Happy Days, fronted by a vocalist that doesn't look too dissimilar to Ben Stiller, with a drummer that could be an extra in the 118-118 ad - and you have The Hoosiers.
Yes, they are back again, offering another helping of what they themselves like to call odd pop, this time, though, not as support but as headliners in their own right.
It's pretty good going to have two stellar-like singles charting faster than a speeding bullet without first releasing their debut album (The Trick to Life) which is due out October 22, but these guys are obviously oblivious to industry protocol and are capable of anything, and then some.
Headed up by Irwin Sparkes (guitar/vocals), with Alfonzo Sharland (drums/vocals),Martin Skarendahl (bass/vocals) and Jenni Parker (keys/vocals), The Hoosiers are a captivating live band, drawing their influences from sci-fi, fantasy and comic books. They sing of begrudgingly having to grow up and imaginary friends - in fact anything that is obscure and random.
If you haven't been to a Hoosiers show yet I suggest you go and soon.
