BROADSTONE'S Chris Bialan has stormed into second place in the Caterham Evo Euro Cup Endurance Championship after returning from the Nurburgring in Germany with a brace of wins.
Bialan opened his weekend by immediately hitting the front in the Superlight class for the first race and pulling out a healthy advantage over the 15 laps to finish a lap clear of the field.
In the second encounter Bialan came under more pressure and had to give best to Nathan Bell, the gap being nine seconds.
However, the Dorset driver bounced back in the one-hour endurance race and finished a full 46 seconds clear of his nearest challenger, setting the fastest lap of the race on the way which averaged nearly 85 miles per hour and set a new class record.
This has put him into second place overall in the endurance category with the final rounds to come at Brands Hatch on October 19/20.
EUROROD ACTION
FOURTEEN drivers contested the Eurorod Final at Ringwood Raceway on Saturday with Bournemouth's Jason Keet taking the honours ahead of fellow townsman Mathew Watkins.
Dave Mitchell from Southbourne, meanwhile, made it an all-Dorset podium.
The Thunder Rod final was won by Graham Tizzard from Broadstone in a Nissan Sylvia Turbo with second place going to Chris Aldwell from Poole in his Saab Turbo ahead of Carl Harrington from Bournemouth driving a Mk3 Granada.
BANGERS-GALORE
THE Unlimited National Bangers came out in force with 21 starters for the first heat including a monster stretched Lincoln Limousine, five Jaguars and an assortment of Granadas.
The unfortunate Limo only lasted a few laps after being spun out by Mark Bartlett and suffered a small fire.
In the end it was the Mk2 Granadas that were the class of the field finishing first in the hands of Joey Collins and third with Tom Terry at the wheel - both from Southampton. Mark Bartlett from Weymouth separated the Hampshire duo.
- Ringwood Raceway Programme Saturday: Tonight's racing includes a special guest driver, with a Dutch TV presenter being filmed taking part in the over 1800 Rookie Bangers. His report will be going out on RTL travel's Adrenaline Moment programme in Holland. Also in action are Hot Rods, Junior Rods and National Super Rods.
