The Enemy, Southampton Guildhall

Support act Lethal Bizzle got the evening off to a raucous start with a feisty blend of grime and hip hop.

The sell out venue was all too eager to get involved and Bizzle's cover of House of Pain's Jump Around nearly took the roof off.

Liverpudlian misfits The Wombats were next up and kept the momentum going with a storming set that saw recent singles Let's All Dance To Joy Division and Backfire At The Disco get a well received airing.

By the time Coventry's finest, The Enemy, took to the stage the plastic beer bottles were readily flying through the air.

Dressed in obligatory sports casual anoraks and full of Liam Gallagher-style swagger, the band launched straight into Away From Here and never looked back. Working at a furious pace and delivering track after track, it was clear that The Enemy's tender years were a distinct advantage.

The night ended all too quickly with an encore and a tougher working of the ballad Happy Birthday Jane. It was at this point that lead singer Tom Clarke encouraged the audience to ignore the Guildhall's strict policy on no crowd surfing.

A few brave souls flailed about on top of the crowd, but on the whole the night passed without any real incident or controversy. The Enemy certainly delivered on the night and proved to be value for money for the hundred or so sweaty, smiling audience members.
