IT'S official! Bournemouth-based band Velvet Hearts are the most popular UK group ever on YouTube!
The Velvet Hearts have had 300,000 hits on their page in the last six weeks, with more subscribers than mega-stars such as Gwen Stefani and Gorillaz.
And they have just made it YouTube's Top 100 Most Subscribed Musicians Of All Time.
Songwriter Steve Jones, 28, said: "Suddenly things have all gone really manic. We initially only put some songs on YouTube to see people's reaction. We never expected to grow this fast."
The six-piece group, who have been compared to the Dave Matthews Band and The Band, was formed by pianist and sax-player Steve and his school pal John James Newman nine months ago.
Guitarist Quest Quinton, bassist Lydia Cascarino-Close, drummer Olly Richmond-Jones and backing vocalist Jamie Bruce, cousin of The Bill star Ali Bastian, complete the line-up.
Music runs in the family for John James Newman who is the son of Marmalade's Sandy Newman who had a number one hit in the 1960s with a cover of Oh Bla Di, Oh Bla Da.
Steve and John went on to jam with Ringo's Starr's son Zak Starkey - now playing with Oasis - and the late Who bassist John Entwistle at The Blues Tavern in Farnham when they were just 14.
Velvet Hearts play Centre Stage Westbourne on November 6.
