FIVE beach huts near Bournemouth pier will be given a makeover by a Christchurch-based iced coffee brand this summer.

Jimmy’s will be wrapping the wooden huts in its signature carton designs to mark the start of summer and the launch of a new product in its drinks range.

A series of events are planned in June to coincide with the product launch, including hip hop yoga classes and surf and stand-up paddleboarding sessions in collaboration with Sorted Surf Shop.

Beach cleans will also be taking place with the council-led campaign group Leave Only Footprints. A barbecue will be organised for volunteers.

Jim Cregan, co-founder of Jimmy’s, said the beach huts will serve as a “hive of activity” and enable people to “embrace the beachside lifestyle that is at the heart of the brand”.

“Where we live inspires me every day. The cliff-top, the sea, the incredible beach – it helps put daily life into perspective,” he said.

“Summer just needs to be spent outside, which is why we’re inviting everyone to spend some time with us, down by the beach huts this month, in the sea, BBQ-ing on the sand and meeting new people. It’s going to be rad.”

Jimmy’s will be encouraging the community to enjoy Dorset’s award-winning coastline and practise mindfulness with a daily morning dip in the sea.

Ticketed events taking place as part of the product launch will raise money for surf charity The Wave Project.

Throughout June, Jimmy’s staff will be heading out along the promenade and offering passers-by a free sample of iced coffee.

On Thursday, June 20, there will also be a Screw it Just Do It evening event on the beach hosted by local entrepreneur and business mentor Alex Chisnall and featuring Jim and Suze Cregan, who will be giving their first ever joint talk.

Entrepreneur Paul Turner, who received investment from Peter Jones on Dragons’ Den for his award-winning sausages, will also be attending the event.

Jim gained the inspiration for Jimmy’s after becoming hooked on iced coffee during a trip to Australia and returning to the UK to find supermarket shelves lacking in an equivalent drink.
