Mark Ronson, Opera House, Boscombe
MARK Ronson was the epitomy of cool on Saturday night at Bournemouth's Opera House.
He needed no introduction and the euphoric crowd needed no convincing that they love this man and his band.
He has created an entity of his own in the world of cover versions, bringing innovative style and grace to songs already catchy enough to bring the house down.
The band were tight and funky, the horn section leading many of the songs off, including Maximo Park's Apply Some Pressure. Australian Daniel Merriweather's soulful voice was applied to Toxic, while the fresh-faced and young-looking Ronson motivated the crowd with his energetic guitar playing and sharp-suited look.
It was Mark Ronson's first gig here, and the man seemed genuinely overwhelmed by the Bournemouth crowd, stating before he left the stage for the final time that "We'll never forget you". And I don't think the crowd ,who were lucky enough to have witnessed this classiest of shows, will forget him too quickly either.
