WITH praise for their new album Love/Hate still ringing in their ears, Nine Black Alps hit the road and play Bournemouth's Old Firestation on Thursday, October 25.

Formed by singer-guitarist Sam Forrest, their instantly accessible rock is built around his astonishing guitar playing with obvious influences including Kurt Cobain, Johnny Marr, John Squire, Jimmy Page and Evan Dando.

But the songs on the new album prove he has something worth saying in his lyrics as well - which the lucky few who make it to Wimborne's Square Records on Thursday afternoon will hear when Sam plays a short acoustic set and signs albums.

The Firestation show was originally a double bill with The Bees, but the Isle of Wight's herbal hustlers were forced to pull out of the tour when singer Paul Butler fell ill and was handed doctor's orders to rest.

As billed, opening band The Displacements are still appearing and all original tickets for the three-band bill are still valid, but in the spirit of goodwill, the promoters are offering a £3 refund on the night on production of the ticket.
