A MAN sustained serious head injuries in an assault in Bournemouth town centre in the early hours of this morning.
Officers are investigating the incident after they were called by the ambulance service at 3.25am in the Triangle.
A 50-year-old local man sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not life-threatening.
A full investigation is underway to identify the offender and a cordon is currently in place in The Triangle while an examination of the scene is carried out.
Game shop Bag of Holding and vegan eatery Mad Cucumber are taped off.
Tin foil and a first aid kit can be seen within the cordon.
Inspector Nick Lee, of Dorset Police, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of this incident.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of The Triangle at the relevant time and saw or heard anything suspicious to please contact Dorset Police."
