A LATE night venue in Bournemouth town centre has submitted plans to replace an extension to create additional floorspace for the club.
Camel Bar in Old Christchurch Road is seeking permission from BCP Council to demolish the existing “piecemeal” rear built form and replace it with a “well-designed fit-for-purpose” rear extension.
The scheme would also provide outdoor amenity space for the upper floor residential unit above the bar.
A design and access statement submitted on behalf of the applicant by Pure Town Planning says: “This is expected to provide economic benefits to the existing business and provide better quality facilities for customers and for the residential occupants on the upper floor.”
It adds that the development does not represent an increase in the number of units on the site, it only provides an increase in floorspace.
Residents have until the end of the month to submit comments on the proposal.
