THE planning application that could create a Waitrose supermarket in Wimborne has gone on public display.
The application, submitted to East Dorset District Council for a new retail store, access and associated works and new riverside park, will be displayed at Allendale House until November 30.
And planning officers will be on hand at Allendale House, on Hanham Road, on selected dates to help the public with any queries they may have.
As the Daily Echo reported earlier this month, the proposed store would be 20,000 sq ft, about one-and-a-half times the area of the Somerfield premises in Wimborne.
There would be 213 car parking spaces including an underground car park, footpaths to the town centre, and two acres of public recreation space.
As part of the scheme, a roundabout would be created at Lewens Lane, Park Lane and Rowlands Hill to provide access to the site for customers and delivery vehicles.
The application, on the site of the former Hanham Cricket Ground site, off Rowlands Hill, includes the submitted plans and the environmental statement.
This presents the findings of the environmental impact assessment, showing the likely impact the project may have on the environment.
The plans and its associated documents can also be viewed at the council's planning office at Furzehill and details of the application, but not copies of the drawings, can be found on the website dorsetforyou.com Mike Hirsh, head of planning at East Dorset District Council, said: "The council is interested in hearing the views of the public and neighbours of the proposed site, who may be affected by the development. These views will be taken into account when determining the application."
Any comments on the application should be made in writing and reach the council's planning office by November 30.
The decision will then be referred to councillors for decision in spring 2008.
The plans can be viewed at Allendale House, Hanham Road, Wimborne from 9am to 5pm every Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 9am to 9pm every Wednesday and Thursday until November 30.
Planning officers will attend on Wed-nesday, October 31, from 6.30pm to 8pm; Thursday, November 1, from 6.30pm to 8pm; Friday, November 2, from 2pm to 4pm; Wednesday, November 7, from 6.30pm to 8pm; Thursday, November 8, from 10am to 4.30pm and from 6.30pm to 8pm; Tuesday, November 13, from 10am to 4.30pm; Wednesday, November 14, from 6.30pm to 8pm; Thursday, November 15, from 6.30pm to 8pm.
