BOURNEMOUTH’S Camel Nightclub - which describes itself as ‘the first bar of its kind in the UK, Europe, and the United States’ - is up for sale for £1 million.
The town centre nightspot and shisha bar in Old Christchurch Road is described by estate agents Christie & Co as “an established nightclub, split over two floors in a five-storey building dating back to 1890 with a self-contained three bedroom residential flat.”
They say it shows a net turnover of £680,581, with a gross profit currently running at 81 per cent and earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation of £272,275.
Christie & Co says the new owner will acquire accommodation comprising two large trading areas with bars and customer toilets on the lower ground floor, and private stairs leading from the ground floor to the first floor, which comprises two offices and a boardroom.
The sale also includes the club’s fixtures and fittings.
Unusually for a nightclub there is also an outdoor area with an Egyptian themed patio and a decked space on the ground floor which provides a shisha area, with capacity for 100 people.
Christie & Co said the Camel Bar represented: “A unique opportunity to acquire one of central Bournemouth’s premier nightclubs. The business is highly profitable and benefits from a strong reputation locally.”
However, the club has also had its share of headlines. In April a man allegedly suffered a knife attack there.
