A MOTORCYLIST in his 40s has died following a collision with a car on a Dorset road.
The man suffered serious injuries in the collision with a black BMW 1 Series yesterday afternoon was airlifted to Southampton Hospital.
Now police have revealed that he died in the early hours of this morning.
The man, from Wiltshire, was riding his silver Honda motorcycle on the B3157 Coast Road between Abbotsbury and Swyre in west Dorset when the collision took place at 2.03pm.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said his family has been informed of his death and is being supported by specially-trained officers. The coroner has also been notified.
The occupants of the BMW were not injured.
Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: "Our thoughts very much remain with the family of the motorcyclist.
"Our investigations into this collision are ongoing and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to contact us. I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything relevant."
