THERE will be a host of firework displays lighting up the skies to mark Bonfire Night over the next few weeks. Here's 14 events taking place across Dorset and the New Forest...
1. The stage is set for Bournemouth’s 23rd annual fireworks party at the Littledown Centre on Saturday, November 2. Doors open at 5.30pm with three displays at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm including the famous White Knuckle – the south’s loudest and largest fireworks show. Early bird tickets are on sale until Sunday, October 27, £22.50 (family), £7.25 (adult) and £4.25 (child). Call 01202 055550 or go online at bournemouthfireworks.net
2. Ringwood’s grand firework display takes place on Sunday, November 3 at Carvers Recreation Ground from 3.30pm until 8pm and includes two displays, a bonfire plus a bar and a hog roast. Tickets are priced at £1.50 in advance or £2.50 on the gate. Live entertainment starts at 3.45pm and there will be a child friendly firework display at around 5.30pm. From 5.45pm there will be live music from the renowned Swing Unlimited Big Band. The bonfire will be lit at around 6.30pm with the main firework display at 7pm. Swing Unlimited will close the event with a second magnificent set.
3. There will be a free firework display and family-friendly entertainment at Poole Quay on Tuesday, November 5. There will also be a fun fair, food and drinks stalls and family activities. The event starts at 6pm with fireworks being lit at 8.30pm.
4. Wareham Wednesday’s Monster Firework Display goes off with a bang at the Swanage and Wareham Rugby Club on Friday, November 1 starting at 6pm with fireworks at 8.30pm. There will be food, drinks, live music, entertainment and fun fair rides. Tickets £5 for adults and children under-10 years of age free, young adults £3.
5. New Milton Round Table Charity Fireworks is celebrating its 56th year at Fawcetts Field is on Saturday November 9. Gates open at 5.30pm with fireworks at 7pm. All money raised is for local causes. The event was due to take place on October 26 but was postponed due to bad weather.
6. The annual Bransgore School Association (BSA) Bonfire and Fireworks display takes place on Friday, November 1 from 5.30pm in the grounds of the Three Tuns Inn. Come early and enjoy watching the bonfire being lit. Hot food available and there will be a live band in the barn after the fireworks. 7. East Dorset Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Salterns Road in Poole will host attractions for all ages including disco, toddler play area, hot food, chocolate fountain on Saturday, November 2. Gates open at 5pm. Bonfire lit at 6pm with fireworks at 7.15pm.
8. A traditional Family Fireworks and Bonfire will be held at Butcher’s Coppice at Kinson from 5.30pm on Saturday, November 2 with stalls, refreshments and games. There will be the Best Guy Fawkes competition at 7pm and firework display at 7.30pm. Advance tickets adults £4, child £2 and family £8.
9. A charity Bonfire and Fireworks hosted by the Rotary Club and Round Table of Christchurch will take place at Stanpit Marsh on November 2. The gates open at 5pm and the display will be at 7.45pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6.15pm.
10. Sparks in the Dark, a fun, family, fundraising event takes place every year at Haymoor Junior School at Canford Heath on Friday, November 8. Besides fireworks there will be games, hot food, and a few surprises too. Gates open 6.30pm with fireworks at 8pm.
11. Get your wizarding robes on for A Magical Night of Fireworks on November 9 run by Stourfield Junior School Friends’ & Parents’ Association from 5.30pm in the school field. There will be fairground rides, a hog roast, pizzas,bar, games and live music. Advance tickets on sale at Winkworth’s in Southbourne from Monday, October 28 Child £2.50. Adult £4.50. Family (2+3) £12.50
12. A firework extravaganza will marks Sherborne Castle’s 40th year of hosting one of the most spectacular fireworks in Dorset. This year, the display falls on Saturday, November 9. The bonfire starts at 7pm, fireworks at 7.30pm and all with the added entertainment from the cast of Sleeping Beauty from the Octagon Theatre from 5pm.
13. Ringwood's popular grand firework display takes place on Sunday, November 3 at Carvers Recreation Ground from 3.30pm until 8pm and includes two displays, a traditional bonfire, bar area and hog roast.
Tickets will be £1.50 in advance or £2.50 on the gate. Live entertainment starts at 3.45pm for children and there will be a child friendly firework display shortly after dusk (around 5.30pm). From 5.45pm there will be live music from the fabulous Swing Unlimited Big Band.
The bonfire will be lit at around 6.30pm with the main display at 7pm. Swing Unlimited will close the event with a second magnificent set.
14. The community at Sixpenny Handley will join together for a firework spectacular on November 2. The annual event, now in its 17th year, is organised by 1st Woodcutts Scouts with burgers and sausages from the village butcher, warming pumpkin soup and beer and cider from local brewers and family games.
